Amsterdam Fashion Week (AFW) started in 2004 as an initiative to put Amsterdam on the map as a sparkling and internationally oriented destination for Fashion. Twice a year, Amsterdam Fashion Week forms the centre-point of the Dutch fashion world, with a full schedule of catwalk shows, trade fairs, presentations, lectures and parties. The Green Collective is a new network platform, where varying sectors in the creative industry converge with a shared vision of sustaining biodiversity through innovative entrepreneurship. By initiating The Green Architecture Competition (organized by the Netherlands Architecture Institute), The Green Design Competition (organized by Dutch Design Week) and The Green Fashion Competition (organized by Amsterdam Fashion Week), The Green Collective aims to stimulate a shift to a more ecological economy throughout the creative industry and to support interdisciplinary collaboration. KICI is the largest independent clothing collecting charity of the Netherlands. KICI has been committed to the re use of textile and footwear professionally as of 1975. KICI does so by having the textiles and footwear be sorted; based on wearable or non wearable. The wearable textiles is back in circulation in countries outside Europe or are given to thrift stores, food
banks or back in circulation outside Europe. The non wearable textiles enter a high tech process of pulping and recycling, generating fibers of which new yarns can be made that
enable us to make products such as jeans, relief blankets or insulation material for housing
but even table tops, doors and yes: even new collection bins for garments.
Earthmatters is an innovative event organiser from Amsterdam. With 25 years of experience in public
and corporate events earth always seeks to be multi-disciplinary and creative. The Green Fashion Competition found in earthmatters its congenial and collaborated with the organisation for the launch of The Green Fashion Competition in July 2011.

Amsterdam Innovation Motor (AIM) promotes innovation, cooperation and new activity in a number of sectors which are very promosing for the Amsterdam metropolitan area; creative industries and new media, ICT, life sciences, financial and business services and sustainability. AIM acts as a catalyst, generating initiatives in these sectors in Amsterdam's knowledge-based economy, with partners from those sectors. These partners include institutions, businesses, government and social organisations.
In concrete terms, this means: promoting knowledge-intensive enterprises, especially start-ups; profiling the Amsterdam area as a knowledge-intensive area and furthering cooperation between knowledge institutions, businesses and government.
